In Cold Blood
Truman Capote
"In Cold Blood" takes place in Holcomb, Kansas 1959 where the Clutter family of four are brutally murdered. The novel goes through the events leading to the killings to the trial that the murders, Perry and Dick, go through and everything in between. There are a lot of scene changing and jumping around to different parts of the story. The major conflict in the book is dreams failed and dreams achieved. Perry and Dick have failed to achieve the "American Dream" when the Clutters are the prime example of the "American Dream". Also, each major character in the book experiences loss of innocence.
